Supporting the Fighters, Admiring the Survivors, Honoring the Taken, and NEVER EVER Giving Up Hope!

Our Mission:

KO Breast Cancer was formulated to support the fighters, admire the survivors, while honoring the taken by using bold and cutting-edge tactics to build awareness and educate women as well as men who are unconscious to this horrific disease, while also assisting those who do not have access to quality breast health care.

My name is Dana Russell. I lost my mother to the battle of breast cancer in the year 2000. Ten years later, my dear friend also succumbed to this vicious disease. She was only 26 years old. Losing two loved ones to breast cancer is what inspired me to paint “Fight Against Breast Cancer”. And, that is exactly what cancer is…a FIGHT - A fight for survival; a fight to the death; a fight to defeat this detestable enemy. Unfortunately, this is a battle too many of us have endured, either personally or secondhand.

“Fight Against Breast Cancer,” originated as a tribute to my dearly loved mother - by me just painting my emotions on canvas. But, after the response I received from family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, and others who had seen my painting, I realized this was a tribute to all women who have fought this disease. My mother may have been my inspiration, but my painting was an inspiration to others! It symbolizes strength and endurance. I did not put a face or skin color to the woman in my piece because she represents all women; women currently battling breast cancer, women who have conquered breast cancer, women who have lost loved ones to breast cancer, women who are unaware and need to be informed about breast cancer. All women!

The painting, “Fight Against Breast Cancer,” symbolizes what KO, represents. KO Breast Cancer is an organization designed to empower women: physically, mentally, and emotionally. Cancer is not only a physical fight, but also mental as well as emotional. We must be mentally prepared to conquer this disease. It is not enough to simply fight. It is the spirit which we bring to the fight that decides the outcome. You have to enter the ring with the confidence of a Champ. And, a challenge is nothing to a Champion. The “KO” stands for “KNOCKOUT,” because we are KNOCKING OUT Breast Cancer! Our goal is to inspire…so women no longer think, feel and/or act like a victim…but a Victor! No longer will women be defined by this disease. This time, we are calling the shots and making the rules. It’s time to put on our pink boxing gloves and make cancer the punching bag! Cancer should be frightened of us…not vice versa. The KO Breast Cancer’s motto is, “A fighter can take a punch, but hits back twice as hard”. Cancer might try to knock us down, but we’re still standing… and attacking back.
